SC. He was born in Greenville Co. in 1808 and died in Anderson Co. SC on 25 June 1865. He was buried at Brushy Creek Farm in that county. George Stone married Emaline Burrell c.1835. Together they had 6 children: Harriet, John Francis, George W., Mary Jane, Waddy T., and Martha E. Son George W. died 14 April 1862 from typhoid fever contracted while serving with the 4th South Carolina Volunteers. Son Waddy T. died 27 August 1862 from wounds received during the Battle of Rappahannock Station in Virginia, while serving with Co. D, 18th Regiment of Evan’s Brigade. Son John Francis, who also served with Co. D, 18th Regiment of Evan’s Brigade, was being held in a Union prison at the time of the writing of his father’s will. Will provided to me by Dewitt Boyd Stone, Jr., g.g.grandson of George Stone, and transcribed this date – Steve A. Stone, 18 April 2006 South Carolina Anderson District In the Name of God, Amen. I George Stone of State and Dist. above written, being of sound mind and memory & considering the uncertainty of this Frail & transitory life, do therefore make ordain, publish & declare, this to be my last Will and Testament; That is to say first after all my lawful debts are paid & discharged, the residue of my estate real & personal, I give, bequeath & dispose of as follows, to wit; To my beloved wife (Emaline) the tract of land or real Estate, of which I am now possessed, during her natural life or widowhood, & after her death, or second marriage, to be sold & divided equally between my heirs; the Personal Estate I desire & decree to be sold, after my decease & the Proceeds thereof equally divided among my heirs; that is my wife & each child to share equal & alike, but it is herein provided that if my demise should occur before the close of the Present war, then & in that case, the Estate shall remain intact & entire without sale or division until such time as the curren! cy of the country shall become stable, & property return be at a par or maximum price, & it is further decreed that the part which shall accrue to my daughter Harriet T. Shearer (now a widow) shall be held in trust by my son John F. Stone, for the use of her & her two children which she now has, viz: Mary Jane Elizabeth Shearer & Bryant G. Shearer & after she shall have so much thereof as is necessary for her sustenance & comfort during her natural life then the residue of her portion to be equally divided between the said above named children; & I further make known that it is my will that my son J.F. Stone take charge of the Real Estate to a sufficient extent to see that my wife (should she become frail or helpless) be comfortably maintained & provided for during her natural life & that he be reasonably recompensed therefore out of the proceeds of her portion after her death. Likewise I make, constitute & appoint my said John F. Stone with W.S. Pickens, alternate to be executors of this my last will & testament.
