Posted on: Anderson County, SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Anderson/12034 Surname: Duncan ------------------------- Hugh and Martha Duncan came to Pendleton District (later Anderson County), SC in 1790 with a large family including several married children and at least one grandchild. One son William is of particular interest. He was born abt 1766 in Ireland, married Nancy and immigrated with an infant daughter. He served with brothers Robert and John in the War of 1812. I think, but am not sure, that he moved with family members to Lowndes County, MS in about 1825. There is a William Duncan in the 1830 census with only a wife. In 1840, he appears as 70-80 with a wife 60-70 and a younger woman and two small boys (a widowed daughter?). Both he and wife apparently died before 1850 as they do not appear in that census. Any help with this family will be greatly appreciated. I am particularly interested in indentifying the daughter born in Ireland just before immigration. Cheers, Doyle Daves
