Some weeks ago I paid to have a male family member participate in the family DNA testing. I needed to prove which line of Whit/Whitt the upper South Carolina Whitts descended from. I had hit a brick wall when trying to locate the connection between John Whitt of 1810 with anyone from Virginia. Today I received the following message from David Whitt who is the person in charge of the Whit/Whitt DNA work. "I just received an email from Family Tree DNA informing me of your DNA test results. Congratulations, your 12-Marker test identifies you as a descendant of the emigrant, John Witt-Whitt." What this means is I have now established a link back to the original Witt line and eliminated the German and French lines of Witt/Whitts. For those of you who descend from John Whitt or David R. Whitt you can now turn your attention to finding the link back to the children of John Witt/ Nancy Daux; John Witt II, William Witt, Edward Whitt or Richard Whitt, Sr. Technology is becoming a wonderful tool when brick walls pop up!
