Jane, I am interested in those Pattersons as my Wade Patterson b. Jul 01, 1843 and lived in Anderson after the war. He died here in Anderson too on Jul 09, 1926 and buried in Sandy Springs Methodist Cem. I can't seem to find his parents anywhere. All I had previously was Robert S. Patterson born ~1837 in South Carolina. In his Conf. Army enlistment papers place of birth is listed as Anderson Co. SC. He married in Barbour Co, AL in 1855 and there was a "permission slip" from his father allowing him to marry because he was underage. His father's name is listed a Samuel Patterson. I find the following entry in the 1850 Census The Savannah River Regiment District in the county of Abbeville State of South Carolina. Household 1162 Samuel Patterson 66 m White Hireling born Via (Virginia?), Eula A Patterson 46 f w born SC , William J Patterson 18 m w Hireling born SC attended school, Louisa J 16 f w school , Lucinda C 15 f w school, Robert S 12 m w school, Sarah A 11 f w school Several facts match up and I'm hopeful that this is the right family.
