http://www.pcanet.org/history/periodicals/spr/bios/long.html Isaac Jasper Long was born in the Anderson District of South Carolina on the 23rd of February, 1834, and was the fifth and youngest son born to Isaac and Lettie Hamilton Long. His youth was beset with the death of his father when he was about 10 years old, and his mother died some four years later.
