I wonder if I could request a lookup, as well. Living in Florence County, SC, I don't have access to these books here, and can't afford to purchase them at this time. I wonder if you might check to see if you can find a reference to any of these people/places. The names would only appear in references to Abbeville County in the 1800's: My great-great-grandfather, John W. Brown (born in NC June 25, 1801 - died January 21, 1897), married to Phoebe B. S. Anthony Brown in Lincoln County, GA, July 31, 1834. He was hired by the Diamond Springs Company to build the Diamond Springs Hotel in upper Abbeville County, SC, and moved there around 1838. He had two sons who died in the Civil War, Mark S. Brown and John M. C. Brown. His daughter Phoebe Ann Brown married George Perry Pettigrew of Abbeville. Also son Joseph Brown married Lucinda Tribble. All remained in Abbeville County. John W. Brown passed away in 1897. These people would be in Abbeville and/or Anderson Counties, from around 1855 - forward: His son, my g-grandfather, George Washington Brown (Oct. 11, 1855 - February 13, 1926), who married Mary A. Cordell (April 24, 1864 - June 27, 1925). They are buried in Iva City Cemetery. Their children included: Ella B. Speer (married Martin Speer); Eula Lee B. Mauldin (Pickett Mauldin); Minnie B. Mitchell (Jack Mitchell); Lola B. Mauldin (Lemuel Mauldin); Ben Brown; W. J. Bryant Brown; Dewey Brown; Vernon Brown; Parker Brown; and Alma B. Revels (Frazier Revels). My grandfather, W. J. Bryant Brown, married Ada Hall, daughter of A.S.J. and Ella Dixon Hall, of Iva (Anderson County). No rush; but if you come across any mention of anything here, please let me know. My main interest: John W. Brown and the Diamond Springs Hotel; would also like to find my g-grandfather's obituary -- George W. Brown, who died February 13, 1926. I have my great-grandmother's, his wife's, who died the year before. I will email you only if I don't hear from you on this Board. Thank you very much! I know many, many people appreciate the help of kind people such as yourself, willing to share the information they have. Joanne Brown Revell
