He was son of David Moffat d. 1849 and Martha Bratton Sadler Simpson d. abt. 1880. David was twin of John Allen Simpson. Siblings James L. and Louisa C. Simpson and others. This family descendents of Rev. John Simpson who founded Roberts Preys. church in Roberts Comm., Anderson Co. SC. Rev. John moved from the Fishing Creek area of Chester Co. SC to Anderson Co.
