Hi David, I have hired a researcher for my PATTERSON's in Anderson County SC, she lives in Toccoa GA and is fantastic at researching and remembering names and connecting them. She has helped my out so much with all that she has found on my Patterson line. I believe it was last month she was searching grave yards and looking at birth and death certificates and came across a John Patterson, son of a Wade Patterson and a "Simpson". Here I will copy part of her letter to me here so you can read what she says: I was able to get two more death certificates for you. One was for John Patterson, husband of Genie Marshall Patterson. We only had a year of death from the tombstone, but I found him in the SC Death Index, which said that he died Sept. 21, 1940, Oconee Co. - Certificate # 14725. On the death certificate, John Patterson's birthdate was not known, but he was about 49 years old. (That agrees with the tombstone, which says 1891-1940.) His wife is listed as Mrs. Genie Patterson. He was the son of Wade Patterson and his mother's maiden name was Simpson. Her first name was not given. Do you know of a Wade Patterson? He may be from an entirely different line, but you never know. The above Genie Marshall Patterson is the daughter of my gggg-grandfather Andrew Jackson Patterson and Sarah Wood Patterson daughter: her name is Carrie C Patterson. I can give you the rest of the info I have for this family... I do have a copy of the newspaper obit for both John and Genie. I'm wondering if John is somehow related to my Patterson line. I get myself confused when I try to do genealogy, if this sounds completely crazy, let me know. If I'm remembering this right, Bunnie, my researcher found John and Genie buried close to Carrie Patterson Marshall in a cemetery in Anderson or Oconee, SC. I fill get the data out and look over it and if this sounds like a possibility of the same family then I will scan what I have and send it off to you. I also wondering about your Wood family, could they belong to the same Wood family as my Sarah Wood?? So many questions, but this is so fun! Let me know what you think.
