I have been working on the Hanvey Family history for over fourty years and am a descendant of William Hanvey, who was born ca. 1740 in the Kingdom of Ireland. I am constantly striving to add any Hanvey descendant of any connected line no matter how distant. I would like to correspond, exchange data, and ideas with anyone of the Hanvey family (any and all branches). Especially, would like to exchange information on the ancestors or descendants of William Hanvey. William Hanvey was most likely born in County Down in the Kingdom of Ireland ca 1740 and was certainly the immigrant ancestor of the great Hanvey Family originating in the Colony of South Carolina. He and his wife, Sarah, whose maiden name is unknown, arrived with their young daughter, Jane, at Charles Towne in the Province of South Carolina on Thursday - 19 February 1767. Sarah was born ca 1741 and Jane was born ca 1764. William and his family were among a group of poor Irish Protestants who arrived on the ship, Earl of Hillsborough. The vessel had sailed from Belfast in the Kingdom of Ireland on 30 November 1766. William received a 250 acre Royal land grant in the Long Cane Section, near the Belfast Township of South Carolina and his descendants have sped to all parts of the county. I have over 6000 records and much reference data on individuals related to this line. I will gladly correspond with anyone interested these lines. I have put together a fairly complete set of data on the various branches that stayed in South Carolina, but lack some data on the branches that moved to Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, etc.. However, I can't identify your "Unknown Hanvey" from the data you gave alone, maybe, if you could provide me more specific data on your Hanvey family line, I could identify it and be of more assistance. What I am asking is that you provide me information on - birth, death, marriage dates and locations. If you know any locations, or places any of the people you mentioned lived or died at, that might give me a clue as to what family group you belong to. With this kind data on your ancestors and their families, if you have it, I more than likely can tie you family to my Hanvey data. If I am successful in identifying your family line, I will provide you with an ancestor listing that shows your direct line back to William Hanvey of 1740. And if you are more deeply interested in genealogy, I would of course be glad to exchange data more extensively on the Hanvey family. I hope to hear from you soon and as I said, I would be most happy to exchange information. Monte A. Hart 105 James Street Easley, S.C. 29642 Mhart96@aol.com
