    3. David. The Wyatt family has almost peopled the upper peidmont district of SC. This family arrived about 1785 or so with wives, children, and relatives. Most descend from Newton/Mattison/Smith/Wyatt/Nicol families of VA.. The ancestor of Wyatt was Haute who was the Chaplain to his brother, Sir Frances Wyatt, an early Gov. of VA.. Now, the name back in the beginning of time was Hiot. They all appear to descend from an ADAM HIOTT...The reason this Genealogy exists is because one George Wyatt grew bored in the Tower of London where he was thrown and did an extensive genealogy . This information comes from another descendant of this family Leonardo Andreas. He is dead now but his reputation was good.. Hope this helps. It makes sense to me that one part of the family would remain purists and keep the spelling right.
