    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hcB.2ACE/2607.1 Message Board Post: Hello, Zara, If you haven't been in contact with this person, you might want to see if she has any more information: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2950739&id=I21 Her names seems to match the ones you're looking for. I thought I might have found Hosea on the 1880 census, but her file says he was born in 1885. If you think he could have been born earlier than that, you might want to look at the Benjamin Sadler family on the 1880 census for Hartwell (Town), Hart Co., GA: Benjamin Sadler, 52, born NC, married, black, works on farm, both parents born in NC Carrie Sadler, 37, born SC, married, black, works on farm, both parents born in SC Children: son Asa (20), son Dillian (15), daughter Emma (13), son John (10), son William (6), daughter Sallie (5), son Holster (3), daughter Fannie (1). I did wonder if "Holster" was just a misspelling of Hosea, since I have also seen that name misspelled on census lists as "Hosey" and the pronunciation wouldn't be too far off. All this is a moot point, of course, if your Hosea wasn't born until 1885. I wish I could be more helpful, but maybe the lady from Rootsweb can give you more. Best of luck to you as you continue your search!

    3. Don't know if this will help you but there was a John Evans, lived in Pendleton and ran a pharmacy in Pendleton about the time period and later that you mentioned. He had sons named John and Harry. John ran the pharmacy after his father and he is retired along with Harry now. Don't know to much else about the family but the sons still live in Pendleton, Harry is in his 70s. They are well known in the Pendleton area. I believe their family history is on file at the Pendleton Historical Commission "on the square" in Pendleton.
