She (& presumably Hugh Erskine) are buried at Boardmills, near Belfast in the family burying ground. My grandmother, Margaret Erskine Bamford, left Ireland in the early 1900's & I know she had a sister Sarah who lived in the States whom she stayed with for a while. . There also was a brother James . Both James & Erskine names have been passed on to grandchildren. . I am wondering if we share a common ancestor on the Erskine side. Dawn Harrison

http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search/default.asp<http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search/default.asp> There are six records on Mcleskey at the above site starting in 1802. They all seemed to be in the Pendleton District and Anderson Co., SC I didn't try the other spellings but you can at the above browser at the SC ARchives. If you are in that area you might try; 1) Anderson Co., Library, Anderson, SC, 2) Pendleton Historical Commission on the Square in Pendleton, SC and 3) The Greenville Co., SC Library in downtown Greenville, SC. All of the above have an excellent collection of SC Genealogical Records. God Bless. He may not be in Anderson Co. but some other town that was in the Old Pendleton District. There are severaly variations of his name. Mcleskey, Mecluskey, McCluskey etc. Also, he was a Presbyterian preacher as was sons by his first wife and second wife. I got this info from my 95 year old mom several years ago. There is a Generostee Presbyterian Church, an Old Generostee Presbyterian Church, and a Generostee Baptist. I do see a Joseph McClesky (2/17/1834 – 1/26/1910) buried with wife Narcissa Clem at Townville Presbyterian. I also see a Joseph Hamilton McLesky (1/19/1884 – 8/4/1943) buried at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church. Isn’t it interesting that both spellings are Presbyterian? The Anderson County Cemetery Volume #4 has an inventory of Generostee Presbyterian Church in Anderson. Volume #5 has an inventory of Generostee Presbyterian Church in Iva. Both of these volumes are available upstairs in the Genealogy Room of the Anderson Library. I see on a Google search that Generostee Baptist Church is in Starr on Highway 187 South. Old Generostee Presbyterian is on Parker Bowie Road near Iva. Best of luck as you continue searching!
This is probably Generostee Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) Church near Iva, SC. -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of lunaallenjoyce@yahoo.com Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2005 5:24 PM To: SCANDERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [SCAnderson] Re: Generostee Church This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I am looking for any information on John C. Carson who was married to Rachel Frances Whitten. John was born in about 1820. Their children were James Aaron, Charles L., Emily, Elizabeth, Jefferson B., Mary and Florence. They lived most of the time in Anderson County. In the 1870 census they were in Oconee County, but by the 1880 had returned to Anderson County, Garvin Township. In the 1850 census Morgan Rochester, age 13 was living with them. Morgan was a relative of Rachel. In the 1880 census Franklin Presley, age 4 was living with them, also a relative of Rachel. I have been unable to locate them in the 1860 census and after the 1880 census. Their son Jefferson moved to Texas sometime in the early 1890's. His daughter Florence was born in Texas in 1893, but two sons born earlier were born in Georgia and South Carolina. Phyllis Carson
