You need to explain to people you are selling this DNA testing to a little bit more. Just doing a 12 marker DNA test does not necessarily connect you to any kin. In fact it may connect you to people who are not your kin. What you need is probably at least 25 and probably a 37 marker test. Most died in the wool DNA searchers will tell you that a 37 marker test is the best. If you go to Genealogy DNA-L and talk with some of the DNA math type people there they can help maybe without 37 but it is all still relative to the data base you have accumulated. In addition you need some one to compare to also. That is you need someone with a family lineage that is fairly well known and you also need someone else to compare with in terms of their DNA. If you don't have these two items you are just another group of people as to yet unidentified. Now when you have all of this you must might connect to a family that is kin to you. No guarantee. I'm not putting down DNA testing at all or the person who put this out. But when you undertake this testing it is not all simple and it is not all relative inexpensive. Facts faced help all involved. The DNA testing companies do not always tell you all the facts in the case. It is like the Genographic Project, do a 12 marker test and suddenly find you are kin to half the USA. Then realize more testing and finding family are the only route to success. God Bless. However, as long as you can find a male relative with the surname that you are researching, you could get a sample from him. Obtaining an yDNA sample is quick, easy and painless. The company that conducts the testing and the volunteer coordinator of your surname project will analyse the results and link you to other researchers who share the same yDNA (an thus share a recent common ancestor). The test is also usefull in disproving suspected pedigrees if! your sample does not match with others from that same line. Privacy is assured. Dear Carolinabuny, I'm a native of Old Pendleton District, Anderson Co., SC, Lebanon Community. It is my understanding that the Craig and Rochester family were intermarried. To my recollection there are some Rochester Family members buried at the "OLD" Lebanon Baptist Church site just up the hill from the old Dixon Bridge on "Old" Pendleton-Lebanon Road. Martha Nell Craig Ligon knows about this graveyard and of course is somehow related to this family group. She is my fifth cousin though our Smith Family. I'm not sure where you are located but if you live in this section drop by and visit her. You can get directions to her home at the Mack Smith Store about I/4 mile from her home. Mack Smith's store is on the new road from Pendleton to Lebanon. God Bless. There are numerous Hunnicutt's in old Pendleton District. I'm not a researcher of the Hunnicutt family but the earliest one I know about is Randolph Hunnicutt who owned land in the 23 Mile Section of Lebanon Community in now Anderson Co., SC. This land was located east of old Dixon Bridge and part of it is on what is known now as Harper's Road. It was bought from him by one of my descendants John Perry Major. I'm a native of that area and worked with Harold Hunnicutt and went to school with a Bill Hunnicutt. One of my Smith descendants, Flora Smith, married Ethridge Hunnicutt. If you do a Yahoo People Search and look around the Pendleton area I know of at least one William Hunnicutt that is still living there. A lot of people are kin to the Jolly family as are my Smith, Kay and Mounce Families. However I only know about Manse Jolly from the book on him and some of his kin I worked with an played baseball with, Lawrence Henry Jolly and John Louie Jolly. John Louie Jolly's wife is still living and lives in the town of Pendleton. She is a former school teacher but I don't know what she knows about the family. Probably a good source for your research would be to go to the Anderson Co., Library in the City of Anderson and to visit the Pendleton Historical Commission on the square in Pendleton. Both places have excellent histories of local families that are continually added to. God Bless. It was about 3 miles from the current church. I turned off a gravel road and ended up at a trailer house. The man who lived there told me how to go through the woods and cross a barbed wire fence and get to the cemetary. It was very overgrown and there were only about 8 headstones still in the ground. There were another 20 or so laying around and looking at the ground I estimated that there were maybe 50 graves. I attempted doing rubbings on the headstones, but they were slate and had flacked off. I was unable to get any useful data. I am looking for John and Mary Jennings. Hope this helps.

After 7 years of searching around the GoldenCorner area of our state, there are still many cemeteries that Gary Flynn and I have not been able to locate, GPS map, record & image. The years seem to be flying by us very fast and it will just be a matter of time before we'll have to give up on this physical project. Will someone else pick the ball up when we drop it and give it the attention that we have? Very doubtful ... I guess that you could say this is probably a one-time GoldenCorner heritage opportunity. The cemeteries that we currently still need to find are listed at http://www.rootsweb.com/~scoconee/cemeteries-ntf.html. Were looking for volunteers who would like to do library research, make phone calls, go exploring, check maps, write letters, etc. - whatever it takes to find a listed cemetery or determine ones that need to be added. You can adopt the whole list or just one cemetery. Any help that we would receive, would be better than none at all. Can you be of any help?
