    3. Posted on: Anderson County, SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Anderson/1647 Surname: Simmons, Duncan, Mathis, Yancey, Swindle, Cook ------------------------- Can anyone help me? I just recently found out that my GGG Grandfather, David Simmons, was from S.C. In doing research for Simmons in S.C. I had found an 1840 Anderson Co. census index which listed the following Simmons: David Simmons John Simmons Charles Simmons, Sr. Charles Simmons, Jr. James Simmons, Sr. James Simmons, Jr. Does anyone know anything about these people? My David Simmons would have been born in 1820. He was born in South Carolina and married a woman from Georgia. I believe that he actually married my GGG Grandmother there in Georgia. Then he moved to Alabama where he had children and died. Not only was his name David but he had a son named James. I hope I can find a connection with the above Simmons. If you can help, please contact me. THANKS, Amanda

There are numerous Duncans/Dunkins that do research on the family and I have a lot of material on my Duncan family. My Duncans lived in South Carolina in the 1700's and early 1800's. I'm not sure if any lived in Anderson but it's very possible. I don't find an Agnes listed in my information; however, she may have descended from one of the many people in my family. If you find out any addition information please contact me. I'm always happy to find another Duncan. Oh, I did notice an estate for a Robert Duncan in Anderson S.C. I'm now in the process of finding out if this Robert is the brother to my GGGGG Grandfather. Hope to hear from you. Thanks, Amanda

    3. Cordelia, The original records for Roberts Presbyterian Church are at Montreat College in Montreat, NC. I have copies of most of these - into the 1880's. There are no written records before 1839, but at that time they entered into the minutes of the church what information was known about the church from 1790. I do limited research for a reasonable fee, and would be glad to search the records for your family if you are interested. I'll be glad to do quick searches of the membership lists for free, but I must charge for detailed searches. These are extensive records, all hand written, of course, and they are full of information. Let me know if I can help. Bunnie Gilmer indigo@alltel.net

    2. Hi, I visited the Robert's Presbyterian cemetery in Anderson Co., SC in the early 1970's. I visited with a couple there who were cleaning up the cemetery. I was there seaching for Hendersons. I asked about church records, but they did not know who had them going back to Revolutionary days. It was then a well kept cemetery with some stone going back to 1800. Cordelia If you locate the records, I would be interested to know with whom to communicate about them.

    3. Gay, I don't know of a Roberts Methodist Church here in Anderson but there is a Roberts Presbyterian Church. Its located at 2716 S Highway 187, 29626. If you write to them I'm sure they will let you know if your folks are buried there. The church is one of the oldest churches in Anderson. Its about a mile from lake Hartwell. Good luck in finding your family ----- Original Message ----- From: <GBeam@aol.com> To: <SCANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 05, 2000 3:46 AM Subject: [SCANDERS] Re: SCANDERS-D Digest V00 #89 > Hi > Does anyone have information on Roberts Methodist Church in Anderson > co.SC.(hope this is the right name). > Records, location and cemetery information. > Looking for HALE,THOMAS and HOWELL. > Thanks for any help > Gay Stewart Beam > > > ==== SCANDERS Mailing List ==== > Anderson County, South Carolina SCGenWeb > http://www.rootsweb.com/~scanders/anderson.html > > ============================== > Ancestry.com Genealogical Databases > http://www.ancestry.com/search > Search over 2500 databases with one easy query! > >
