Posted on: Anderson County, SC Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/SC/Anderson/1791 Surname: ------------------------- I am looking for information on James Andrew Beatty, born 1832 in Anderson County. He may have been associated with one of the churches in IVA, S.C. He later moved to Meriwether county in Ga. LE
I have David Geiger Rampy (1835-1918) m. to 1) Narcissa Howard and 2)Frances Powell. He is buried Starr Baptist Church. I have extensive material on him, yet I don't know his parents. Will be glad to share with anyone on this family. I have been told(with no proof) his father was William Rampy? Yet I wonder how D. G. Rampy fits with James Rampy in Anderson County...I think he could be a relative because of proximity of households. Would love to hear from James Rampy descendants or others that know this family. Posted on: Anderson County, SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Anderson/1790 Surname: Brock, Sanders, Bell, Robinson ------------------------- I have seen two posts from you about Andrew and Emasiah Brock. Andrew Brock was the son of Reuben Brock, my ggggg grandfather. I don't know how much you know about the Brocks. I've got information about Reuben, as well as his wife Elizabeth Camp. (The Camp genealogy goes way back to the late 15th century, in England.) You may know all of this, so I won't retype it. But if you don't, let me know. Another Brock descendent has done a nice website, complete with Reuben Brock's Revolutionary War pension application. I checked through my Anderson Co., Pendelton Co. books for more about Andrew Brock. (There was no mention of Emasiah). Like a lot of the Brocks, Andrew doesn't seem to have done much besides go to estate sales (at least in terms of getting in the paper.) The Brocks seemed to love those sales. Let me know if you want any more info/website addresses.
Thank you Cindy. I am looking for a McKee who married a Campbell. In the mid 1800's. Do you have anyone who would fit this description? ----- Original Message ----- From: Bunnie Gilmer <indigo@alltel.net> To: <SCANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2000 8:38 PM Subject: Re: [SCANDERS] Rampey-Simpson-McKee-Evans-Harris-Adams-Todd-Cunningham > Hi Cindy, > > I am interested in your Simpson and McKee lines in the Iva area. Posted on: Anderson County, SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Anderson/1788 Surname: Brock, Bruce, Elkin ------------------------- I too am researching the Brock family that lived in Anderson. Emasiah/Ammasiah Brock b. between 1828-29 d. 1904 married Mary Jane Bruce. They are buried at Silverbrook Cemetery. Emasiah and Mary had several children: George W. b. 1868 Florence b. 1860 Ebenezer B. b. 1872 Eugenia M. b. 1865 Joseph A. b. 1870 Lillie A. b. 1874 Loria L. b. 1879 Wade Pressley b. 1866 my Great-Grandfather William W. b. 1876
We might be talking about some siblings or cousins of my McKees, but we are not talking about the same exact McKees. My James was born in 1810, the same year as your Thomas Simpson. My James had 9 children, including Mary Jane Rebecca b in 1841, who married my Michael Simpson. It is possible that we are talking about the same James as overseer of Thomas Simpson's estate. I'm going to try to find out anything about James parents and grandparents (Lord willing), and we may find our connection. I'll keep in touch, let me know if you find anything. Cindy PS. All the McKees I have were born in Iva, and are buried in Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Graveyard.
Hi Cindy, I am interested in your Simpson and McKee lines in the Iva area. My Thomas Simpson, b. ca 1810, married first to Mary Ann. She appears to have been a McKee. She appears as an heir of Jane McKee (1835), and a legatee of William McKee (1842). In both estates, the heirs were listed as: Hugh McKay and wife Mollie McKay Thomas Simpson and his wife Mariann Simpson William McKee John Beaty and his wife Margaret Beaty Nancy McKee Sarah McKee (who married David McKerley ca 1835-1842) Can you connect to any of these folks? Thomas Simpson died in 1859, and his estate was administered by James McKee. Thomas is supposed to be buried somewhere around Iva, though I have not located his grave or the grave of Mary Ann. Any help with these families will be appreciated. Bunnie Gilmer http://www.geocities.com/bsgilmer/index.html

I had an opportunity to visit the Belton, SC area last weekend. I found a 1971 newspaper piece which says his grave "is located on the crest of a hill in the Shady Grove community on Murphy Road near Belton. The burial site is in the general vicinity of the original home place." I drove up and down Murphy Road, which is about 5 miles long. There is a farm house that sits on the crest of a handsome hill. I was not able to make contact with the owner and his dogs prevented me from getting close enough to see if the grave was there. The article said the tombstone reads "Wm Halbert Lee's Legion Cont'l Troops Rev War." I will make an effort to contact the farmer.
