Hoping someone might be able to help me with my brickwall. Two of these brothers are supposedly buried in Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson. Does anyone have a book of that cemetery or is anyone researching these lines? Thanks, Carol Harrison Mize James W. Smith (William or Willis) was married to Mattie Ann or Mattie Elizabeth Russell. In the 1900 census of Elbert County they are found in the Eliam District. Living in the household are William-son-age ?, Charles-son-age 18 born October 1886, Benj. (Benjamin Clark-my great-grandfather)-son-age 10 born May 1890, David K.-son-age 8 born May 1892, George F.-son-age 4 born October 1895 and wife Mattie. Mattie's age at the time of the census was either 41 or 47. They had been married for 27 years at this time. This would mean that they married ca 1873. In 1900 time I know that Fannie had already married Walter Bates on November 15, 1892 and that Samuel Russell Smith had already married Addie M. Mills on January 29, 1897. {I have found a listing for a James Willis Smith buried at Old Eliam Methodist Cemetery in Elbert County. The only marker is a confederate marker with Co. of CBC, 15th district, Georgia Infantry, CSA. It is located on plot 147.} I also found a James W. Smith who served with the confederate army from Elberton as a private and surrendered at Appomattox. I am unsure of whether these people have a relationship to James W. Smith or not but will do further investigation to find out.} This information has been included for my records so that I would not forget it. I have a copy of Willie Ebben Smith's death certificate which list his father as James William Smith and his mother as Mattie Ann Russell Smith. Fannie Smith married Walter Bates on November 15, 1893 in Elbert County Georgia. Fannie was born November 3, 1874 and died September 21, 1949 in Dublin Georgia. Fannie and Walter lived in Dublin, Georgia, Laurens County. They are buried at Besada Baptist Church outside of Dublin. They were the parents of 4 children including: John, Claude, Leila, and Haskall Bates. Samuel Russell Smith married Addie M. Mills on January 29, 1897 in Elbert County, Georgia. He had a son (Ernest Smith) who was a barber in the Dewy Rose Community of Elbert County. Sam and Addie died in Starr South Carolina and are believed to be buried at Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson South Carolina. They had eight children. James William Smith married ___________________. They lived in Elbert County and had the following children. They are buried Bethlehem Methodist Church in Elbert County to the best of my knowledge. He had a son named James William Smith who at the time of this writing lived in Ninety Six South Carolina. J.W. Smith said that his grandfather was known by "Doc" and that was all he ever knew. Willie Ebben Smith married Mattie M. Moss on January 28, 1906 in Elbert County, Georgia. Willie was born May 23, 1884 and died July 4, 1972. Mattie M. Moss was the daughter of __________________________ and was born Sept 22, 1884 and died August 1971. They were the parents of Eberhardt Smith and Annie Mae Smith ____________. Eberhardt Smith was born June 13, 1908. Both of the children preceded their parents in death. Charles Marvin Smith married Pearl Burton in Elbert County on December 26, 1905. Buried in Ninety Six South Carolina as far as I know. Patti is going to try and find out. They had six girls but we don't know their names. Benjamin Clark Smith married Annie Maude McGHee December 16, 19??. They were the parents of five children Henry Marvin, William Clayton, Bertha Mae, Homer Elbert, Benjamin Julian Smith. See information contained in other parts of the report for details of the children. David Kullen was married to Pattie McGee. They had three children: Felda, Bob, and Harrell. David and Pattie are buried at Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson South Carolina. George Franklin who was killed in France. He is Alamo. Peter Walker and Polly Walker are buried in the Kay Family Cemetery along with two of their daughter's children. We can't find the PLW markings on the stone, but there are four stones under the trees. From the "Kay Family Cemetery" stone marker, the stones are to the right under the trees in the outlying area of the cemetery. There are also three stones nearby under the trees without markings. I don't know who they might be. Holland Walker walkereng@aol.com
