    2. Doyle, I, too, have a female child of William Duncan b. abt 1766 and married to Nancy. I do not have any other information down line. I do have William's ancestors back to James Duncan born abt. 1630 in Scotland and Issobell Niddrie born Feb. 12, 1631/32 in Edinburgh, Scotland if you do not have them. Email me directly. Would like to talk about William's brother, Robert. Sorry I do not have information on the female child. Good luck. A. 2. Doyle Daves
    3. Posted on: Anderson County, SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Anderson/12034 Surname: Duncan ------------------------- Hugh and Martha Duncan came to Pendleton District (later Anderson County), SC in 1790 with a large family including several married children and at least one grandchild. One son William is of particular interest. He was born abt 1766 in Ireland, married Nancy and immigrated with an infant daughter. He served with brothers Robert and John in the War of 1812. I think, but am not sure, that he moved with family members to Lowndes County, MS in about 1825. There is a William Duncan in the 1830 census with only a wife. In 1840, he appears as 70-80 with a wife 60-70 and a younger woman and two small boys (a widowed daughter?). Both he and wife apparently died before 1850 as they do not appear in that census. Any help with this family will be greatly appreciated. I am particularly interested in indentifying the daughter born in Ireland just before immigration. Cheers, Doyle Daves

    3. It helps tremendously!! But now I'm as confused as ever . . . Mary L. is the same as my material, but the Prather / Prater and the birth year. I even have a reputable fellow from GA giving me the marriage of the two Smiths in Lumpkin Co., GA. The children's names are right . . . . Now to go looking from Prather/Praters . . . Wonder if they could be Native Americans? Believe I have an ancestor who was and from SC. Well, genealogy is like this -- confusing <grin> and at times, frustrating. THANKS so much. 3. It's on it's way. Thanks for getting this off my desk so fast. You will probably find lots of information at your local library. Good luck in your research. I also have just gotten a "South Carolina Troops in Confederate Service Vol 1" CD. Let me know if you find any ancestors that were in the Civil War. Also, check out the LDS site at http://www.familysearch.org . Freedman's records have just been put out on a CD.
