Aug 19 1923 - Mar 31 1925 Because of that, he has been attached by some researchers as a son of J. C. Powell [Jesse Clifton]. However, his death certificate below specifically names his parents as Charles and Annie Ruth Lorick Powell. Also note the cem. record gives his date of birth, but his death cert. does not. The informant seems to be his father, who is a brother to the J. C. Powell of the cem. record. 1925 - Death Cert. # 2841 Jessie Sanders Powell Male, white, single, age 1yr 7 mo. b. [Johnston, Edgefield Co, SC] UT: V. C. Edwards & Sons, Johnston, SC Also buried nearby are the grandparents of Jessie S. Powell and parents of both J. C. and Charles Willis Powell. Powell, Robert W. [Walter] 1870 - 1917 Powell, Laura M. HOLMES Oct 30 1867 - Aug 24 1912 HOWEVER, I cannot find the cem. records thus far for his parents. CENSUS: 1880 Shultz township, Aiken, SC p. 215C [Source: FHL Film 1255218 National Archives Film T9-1218] called her Sarah, born GA, age 23 [born ca 1857] The following Sarah Powell's Death cert. listing her birthplace in GA is a possible for the wife of Charles P. Powell, but not PROOF. Note the census records a daughter Sarah, and one Sarah Quarles signs the DC as informant. 1927 - Death Cert. #10507, Aiken Co, SC Sallie Powell Female, white, married b. Rearden, Graniteville, SC buried: Graniteville [Cem., Graniteville, Aiken Co, SC] UT: Couch & Timmerman This seems to fit the wife of Robert N. Rearden, 1837 - 1886 as they are buried together in the Graniteville Cemetery, Aiken Co., SC. To Jan Larson..... I have not yet found one for Ida Powell Rearden. --------------------------------------
