I have been unable at this time to prove all the connections, and some are definitely speculated. Attaway Dies in Greenwood; Rites to be Today Greenwood, SC, Jan 1 -- William P. (Bill) Attaway, 81, died at the Greenwood hospital at 3 o'clock this afternoon following an illness of ten days. Mr. Attaway was the son of Elisha Attaway and Ann Waites Attaway, pioneer residents of Saluda Co. He spent his entire life in the section were he was born and reared, and was successfully engaged in farming until his age forced retirement. Mr. Attaway was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. H. L. Griffin, Chappels; Mrs. L. P. Williams, Greenwood; Mrs. Carl Butler, Saluda; Mrs. J. G. Turner, Ninety Six; and Mrs. J. O. Gregory, Saluda; two sons, T. A. Attaway, Clinton and Andrew Attaway, Greenwood; one brother, Ike Attaway, Saluda; three half brothers, Henry Attaway, Saluda, J. T. Attaway, Ninety Six, and Ernest Attaway of South Georgia. Thirty three grandchildren and 24 g-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held from Trinity Lutheran Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by his pastor the Rev. H. D. Cleckley and the Rev. W. A. Sheppard. He is the son of Elisha Attaway and Annie [Waites] who died in 1865. Mary Ann was the 3rd wife of Elisha based on a study of census records. Mary Ann was born Oct 24, 1855 and would have been only 7 when Iziah was born. 2. Note that DC states he was the widower of Lizzie Mack. The 1920 census still has wife Nancy (Nannie) and other death cert. of his children name their mother as Nancy Koon as does the cem. record. Heritage Quest only has partial 1930 census work done, and evidently not the Old Edgefield Dist area, as I cannot find records for 1930 there. ***Can someone help me out on this wife Lizzie Mack.
