Dear Lister Members, This is a follow-up to my previous cross posted message of a day or so ago. Larry Scott was kind enough to e-mail me the obituary below for Annie Timmerman from THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE. A lot of questions still remain about this family. John Carpenter b. c. 1830 appears to match in age John Carpenter b. c. 1833, son of William Carpenter and Sarah maybe Christian. However, the Christian surname does not seem to fit. This John Carpenter, brother of my great grandfather Ed/Edmund/Edward Carpenter, died in 1915 according to family information. Place of burial is unknown. If Frances Carpenter, his wife in 1880, was the daughter of W. J. Turner and his first wife, Christia Hatcher, then how does Joe Williams, fit into this family as a stepson? Who is Frances Carpenter age 12 living with the Turners in 1870? Was Annie Carpenter Timmerman, wife of Jesse Timmerman, actually the daughter, Martha, or the daughter,Mary E., of John and Frances Carpenter in 1880? Was martha and Annie the same person? In putting together the obituary of Annie Carpenter Timmerman and the 1910 and 1920 census, which daughter married which son-in-law? Presuming that the daughters were listed by age in the obituary, did Minnie Lee Carpenter married Alvin Sizemore and did Margaret Ruth marry Ralph Henderson? Or is it the reverse? Who did William O. Carpenter marry to have a daughter, Nellie, living with one of his sisters and her husband, Jesse C. Timmerman in 1920? So far I have over 1300 inter-related people in my genealogy file from the Trenton area of Edgefield and Aiken County. Hopefully, some of this information should be recent enough that someone on the lists who lives in the Aiken-Edgefield-Barnwell area will recognize them.
