I tried to use USGS GNIS to find it, but it was not in their database. My ancestors came from Sleepy Hollow and I am trying to find any documents created there that could have been turned over to a successor town or to the county. Thank You, Kevin Sanchez-Cherry What time period did this town exist?
Kevin, Sleepy Hollow Township is now incorporated into the Savannah River Site Area, which is a government site. It is inside the Aiken Gate and 1/2 mile to left near Tinker Creek. There was an African-American church located near this creek and they did a lot of their baptisms there. Please contact: Tonya Browder at the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society in Edgefield, SC. Her phone number is: 803-637-4010. She worked at the SRS with the Archaeological Research team and can explain where Sleepy Hollow was much better than I. Even think she has a future book on those areas planned. Good luck with your research! By the way, it looks like Sleepy Hollow Township existed from 1880 (via the Aiken county, SC censuses) until the very late 1940's or the very early 1950's, until the government bought all of this land in those areas.
