Ellis, Greenwood, SC Pleasant and Artemesia Carter Burnett are my ancestors thru son Thomas Jefferson Burnett m. Emily Holloway. I have lots of information on the Burnetts in this line. Feb. 14, 1949, Rural Saluda Co, SC cause: coronary thrombosis informant: R.E. Burnett, Saluda, SC buried: Good Hope [Baptist Church, Saluda Co, SC] UT: Ramey's, Saluda, SC I have more on this Burnett line as well. Mother, according to census records was Melinda 'Milly' Butler and her death certificate provides more info. on her. I have posted it before. No Death Cert. availabe for his father, who died in 1914. 1915 - Death Certificate # 12331, Saluda Co, SC Millie Burnett White, Female, Widowed b. Aug. 4, 1830, Saluda SC [has to be Edgefield in 1830] Age: 84 years, 10 mo, 26 days (calculated to b. August 1, 1830) father: WILLIAM BUTLER, b. Saluda, SC * mother: __ WEAVER, b. Saluda, SC* d. June 26, 1915, Saluda Co, SC cause: hypostatic pheumonia following debility of old age. informant: W. E. Leoppard, Chappells, SC buried: Good Hope, Saluda, SC undertaker: R. L. Ramey, Saluda. *Saluda Co. not formed until 1795. Dec. 13, 1941, Aiken, Aiken Co, SC cause: (alyo)carditis; chronic informant: R. A. Bodie, Aiken, SC buried: Philippi Church UT: D. M. George, Aiken, SC She was married to Ransome A. Bodie who died in 1948. Her obit states: (Aug. Chron. Obit., Mon., 15 Dec 1941) Mrs. R. A. Bodie Passes at Aiken AIKEN. S. C., Dec. 14 - Mrs. Bessie Couch Bodie, 56, died at her home near here this morning at 11 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at the Philippi church near Johnson tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Hartsell will officiate, and interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Bodie's nephews will act as pallbearers. These nephews are Elbert Couch, Tom Couch, Irwin Arthur, Hutson Arthur, Earl Couch and Ledson Couch. Surviving Mrs. Bodie are her husband, R. A. Bodie; an adopted son Alexander Bodie of Pelzer, S.C., and five brothers. J. L. Bodie of Aiken. R. L. Bodie of Langley, John B. Bodie of Aiken, A. B. Bodie of Langley and J. W. Dec. 11, 1937, Colemans, Saluda Co, SC cause: cerebral Hemorrhage informant: Alvin Butler, Saluda, SC buried: Good Hope UT: R. L. Ramey & Son Brooks Butler is Presley Brooks Butler and he is listed in the death certificate index as 1938- Cert. #9720, Saluda Co, SC. However, when I looked it up, not one word could be read off the microfilm. A copy of the original might provide information. Altho the name I have for his wife is Sarah Jane, which comes from the following listing of Good Hope Cem. Records, Saluda Co, SC, her death cert. calls her Jennie. Butler, Pressley B. Nov 15 1857 Jun 11 1938 Butler, Sara Jane May 28 1861 Dec 18 1937 Butler, Susannah Jun 22 1879 Jul 7 1894 Butler, Victoria Apr 9 1883 Dec 17 1888 Butler, Carrie Aug 2 1890 Nov 9 1912 HOWEVER, the death certificate gives a different name and a different date, but same husband. I checked the 1900 census and it gives her as Sara, b. 5/1861, as does the cem. record. -------------------------------------
