This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZcB.2ACE/379 Message Board Post: I am looking for assistance in trying to find records on the Spanish American War Veterans from Aiken County. I am trying to gather any and all information about them, and anyone who is interested in helping please feel free to contact me at Johnnyreb6@aol.com. I have the rolls for the members of the 1st & 2nd Regiment, Heavy Battery, and Naval Milita for the State, a total of 2,614 men (dosen't include the names of the Naval Milita), and as you can imagine it's pretty difficult trying to locate all these men by ones self, so I'm looking for any help that I can get. This is part of a larger effort by myself and the members of the Micah John Jenkins Camp No. 164, Sons of Spanish American War Veterans, to try and make sure that the Veterans of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, & Virginia, are remembered. If anyone is interested in the S.S.A.W.V. please feel free to visit our website at: http://www.geocities.com/sonsofspanamwar/ Thank you all for your time, I remain, as always, Your Faithful, and obedient, servant, Kenneth H. Robison II, President, Micah J. Jenkins Camp No. 164, SSAWV
Kenneth, The Camden Archives & Musuem, 1314 Broad St., Camden, SC 29020 (803-425-6050) has a bunch of books that list soldiers and sailors in various wars. I have never looked to see what they have on the Spanish American War. Altho this archives is located in Kershaw Co, they have the best collection I have seen in SC for much of the state. Their email address is camdenarchives@mindspring.com Also the SC Archives has lots of books on the various wars as well. SC STATE ARCHIVES: SC Department of Archives and History 8301 Parklane Rd.
