Responce to Don Harris First, I always thought that Whiskey Road was along old Highway #1 and in the upper part of Aiken Co near the mill towns of Graniteville, Langley, Bath, Clearwater, etc. I have made a copy of a map at the Camden Archives and Museum, Camden SC entitled: SC. Minor Civil Divisions: Townships and School Districts. The Millbrook township is still there. But it is NOT along the run of Highway #1, so I may be off on my understanding of the location of Whiskey rd. I'd be interested in knowing the run of highway known as old Whiskey Rd. The Millbrook township looks like it would have been in BARNWELL County until 1870, when Aiken Co. was formed. It's Present location is estimated, based on that township map and a present county general highway map of Aiken Co. I would say that is begins a little west of Windsor and goes west toward New Ellenton. The southern part of the area is now the Savannah River Plant, owned by Dept of Defense. This Govt property covers a fairly large portion of south western corner of Aiken Co. That area was taken over by the gov't in the late 40s early 50s. My Dad went to work there in 1951. Churches that look like they would be in the area or close to it are: Rosemary Church, Ashley Grove Church, Union Branch Church, Talatha Church, Mt. Enon Church. The township may go as far up toward Aiken (city) as Monmorenci, but again, trying to figure it out without river boundaries, or other info. when comparing a small map to a large map of different scale, it is hard for me to pin-point its exact location. I understand that Millbrook doesn't exist anymore, something took its place.
