(Hwy 421-Gloverville, SC) after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock at the graveside in The Glover Cemetery near Gloverville, SC with Rev. Thomas Walker officiating. Pallbearers will be Gordon Burkhalter, Hubert Ford, T.J. Ford, Charley Bowen, John Shaw, Wallace Burnett, W. R. Mills and H. H. Melton. She is survived by her husband, Ezra McDoniel; one son Benjamin Glover Turner (Father John Henry Turner), and three grandchildren, all of Gloverville, SC. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alice Helen Glover McDoniel was born March 12, 1864 and died on October 5, 1937. Her first husband was John Henry Turner. John Henry Turner was Ben G. Turners father. He died April 16, 1893 at the age of 29. He is buried in the Glover Cemetery beside Alice McDoniel. After John died she married Riley O. Johnson, Shortly after marrying Mr. Johnson she became ill. Later it was discovered that Mr. Johnson was poisoning her. Her son Ben Glover Turner found out and killed Mr. Johnson by bludging him with an ax to his head. Ben was a young boy when this happened. Her son served his time for the crime and later was set free. Alice recovered and later married Ezra McDoniel. She lived with him on Highway 421 in Gloverville, SC right across the Hwy from the Glover Cemetery in which she erected until her death. In the entrance way of the iron gate on a bottom flat iron piece as you enter the graveyard is engraved Alice McDoniel. I have the article on the killing of Mr. Riley O. Johnson and Benjamin G. My Aunt Lynette Murphy Tanton (mother Helen Alice Turner, father John Murphy) and I take care of the old Glover Cemetery now. Lynette is Alice McDoniel grandaughter and she inherited a lot of the old Glover land in Gloverville, SC along with the old houses. Benjamin Glover Turner married Corrie Ella Bandy Turner born August 15, 1885 and died on June 12, 1975. They had many children in which most died at infancy or at a young age. These young children are buried in the old Vaucluse Cemetery, Vaucluse. SC. Three survived; Alice Helen Turner, John Henry Turner and Marie Salley Turner.
