Dear List Members (Edgefield/Aiken/Barnwell): Thanks to my half-cousin Linda Goetz for correcting my typing errors in the posting below. It was Sarah who married William Walker. I still don't have any definite dates on either of them, only educated guesses. I transposed the Sarah and Mariah names and realized what I had done after I sent the message. Sending a correction was on my "to do" list this morning. My line comes from the earlier marriage of James Whitlock, Jr. to Frances _?_ b. c. 1842 who was living with Alfred Hatcher in the 1850 and 1860 Edgefield census. Not sure who she really was if Alfred Hatcher d.c. 1868 had no children according to the Equity court cases c. 1870. Was Susan her mother? Who was her father, if not Alfred Hatcher. Susan had remarried according to census and equity court records to a Rice Swearingen. Who was he? He does not seem to fit anybody in the Swearingen book? Linda comes from the next marriage of James Whitlock, Jr. d. 1915 m. Anna Patterson before 1880 census. Any additional information appreciated on these people as I don't have it all typed into my computer genealogy program.
