This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Gunter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZcB.2ACE/383.1 Message Board Post: The first part of your question is easy enough. Charles Wilson Gunter was a son of Wilson R. Gunter [25 Dec 1813 - 20 Mar 1896] who married Athsiniah Jordan. Wilson and his second wife are buried at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church which is southwest of Batesburg in Aiken County. Who Wilson R.'s father was is a mystery. I have been working on Gunters in the area for about 25 years and have accounted for most of them. It is most likely that he was a grandson of Joshua Gunter, the ancestor of virtually all the Gunters who lived from Columbia to Augusta before 1900. Theodocia Sawyer was a daughter of Winfield Scott & Susanne (Creed) Sawyer. Email me back so we can talk more.
To: LBUFF@MINDSPRING.COM Regarding the Gunter family. [original message below my message] Altho I have no direct connection to The Gunter lines, I have some information on them.
