The following were transcribed from the microfilm collection of Death certificates, 1915 - 1952, located at the Camden Archives & Musuem, Camden, SC I am checking some of them out because I have proven one Rhoden spelling goes back to David Loveless Rotton m. Nancy Smith. All of them may connect to the early Rotton lines, but have not proven it in but one line. Any help would be appreciated. Hope it makes sense. I worked on it over a 3 day period of gathering census records and death cert. Billie Jones Camden, SC tjones@camden.net ---------------------------------------------------------- Rhoden, E. [Elijah] Jul 8 1844 - May 1 1919 1919 - Death Certificate #9713, Edgefield Co, SC Elija Rhoden Male, White, widow b. July 8, 1845, SC father: Russell Rhoden, SC mother: Elisa ____, SC [Busbee] d. May 1, 1919, Ward township, Edgefield Co, SC cause: (uraemia) (sic), Chronic Nephritis informant: Oscar Clark or Clarke, Ridge Springs, SC burial: NOT given [but known to be Philippi Baptist, Edgefield Co, SC, where he and his wife Ruth Ann are buried] According to HC Ouzts he married Rhoden, Ruth A. [Ann POSEY] Jan 11 1843 - Sep 23 1915. However, I could not find her death certificate altho her death date at Philipi is within the range of available death cert. She possibly died in Augusta, GA?? I have no personal proof of her Posey surname. ----------------------------------------------- Elija had a brother Benjamin Rhoden. The following is his DC, which gives their mother's maiden name. 1919 - Death Cert. #14495, Aiken Co, SC Ben. R. Rhoden Male, white, married Farmer b. NE of Wagner, which is very near if not one the Giddy Swamp township line. Giddy Swamp township is in Aiken Co, and borders along the Lexington Co. line. B. R. Rhoden 4/1/1858 - 8/20/1919 Emma Rhoden his wife 7/28/1860 - 5/20/1933 Giddy Swamp township is in Aiken Co, and borders along the Lexington Co. line. --------------------------------------- This is a new B. R. Rhoden for me, unless the one I have married twice. So I looked up Emma Rhoden'd death certificate which did not help resolve the question. 1933 - Death Cert. #7258, Orangeburg Co, SC Emma Rhoden Female, White, widow of B. R. Did he marry twice, or do I have Eliza Jane Burnett married to the wrong person? YES..... I found the 1910 Census for him and he is married to Emma J. It is her 1st marriage and his 2nd. She has no children. and Lizzie 32, Ida 17 and Mattie 14 are living with them. -------------------------------------------------------------- Note the wife of this Burnett is a Rhoden. Looking for connections on this family..... Found these two DC today, and will post again with others, but sending them since they relate to Rhoden. 1941 - Death Cert.#4660 Lexington Co, SC J. Ed Burnett Male, White, merchant, married to Mrs. Lizzie Rhoden Burnett. b. Dec. 8, 1877, Aiken Co, SC father: John Burnett, Aiken Co, SC * mother: Emma Wiseman, Aiken Co, SC* d. There is a township of Chinquepin in far north eastern corner of Aiken Co. bordered by Saluda on the North and Lexington on the East. Lexington also contains a county of that name bordering on the one in Aiken. So I would venture to say that they might be found earlier in Lexington Co. Monetta (Aiken), Ridge Springs (Saluda), and Batesburg (Lexington/Saluda) are all in a triangle in this general area. I cannot prove it, but this might be his parents and siblings. What do you think? Do you have someone who fits better? 1 John Hezekiah BURNETT b: January 1857 . +Emily/ EMMA b: January 1861 **. 2 Edward BURNETT b: Abt. 1878 ..... 2 Oscar S.
