Funeral arrangements will be announce later. Mr. Arthur, in declining health for more than a year, had lived in this community almost his entire life. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Couch Arthur; one sister, Mrs. Lena Harling of Augusta; one brother, S.J. Arthur of Newberry, S.C., and by a niece, Mrs. Almata Rhoden. Augusta Chronicle, Thursday, 22 Oct 1936: Graniteville, S.C., Oct. 21 - (Special) - Final rites will be held at the Vaucluse Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock for Andrew Pope Arthur, who died at his home here yesterday after an extended illness. The Rev. Thomas E. Seago and the Rev. O.E. TeBow will officiate. Interment will follow in the Vaucluse cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Friday, Fred Harley, T.S. Turner, Virgil Denny, Dave Denny, and Arthur Randall. Mr. Arthur, a well known resident of this section, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Couch Arthur; one sister, Mrs. Lena Harling of Augusta; one brother, S. J. Arthur of Newberry, S.C., and a niece, Mrs. Almata Rhoden. I checked the 1870 census and think I found his family in BARNWELL Co, SC Along with 4 other Arthur families, all in the Aiken Township.
