However, his death certificate below specifically names his parents as Charles and Annie Ruth Lorick Powell. Also note the cem. record gives his date of birth, but his death cert. does not. 3. Dear Aiken & Barnwell List Members, I am posting the message below that was gatewayed to the TOOLE surname e-mail list from the TOOLE surname message board at rootsweb/ancestry message and my answer to it to the Barnwell e-mail list because it pertains to Barnwell people. There are some earlier messages, over a year old, about this relationship of an Eva Toole to other Barnwell Tooles on the TOOLE surname Rootsweb message board. So apparently this person or othersis/are still trping to resolve this genealogical puzzle. Vivian Toole Cates, Alto, Texas http://www.inu.net/vcates TO: ggoff88350@aol.com Your query was "gatewayed" to the TOOLE surname e-mail list to which I am a subscriber. Have we corresponded in the past? I am presuming that you are asking about the Family of Isaac Toole d.c. 1814 Barnwell District/County, South Carolina, as your query gave no time or place. Some of your names match the Barnwell District Tooles, but your information maybe put together wrong. At least, it is different from what I have entered in my genealogy computer program. I have a double Toole line from a grandson of Isaac Toole through Isaac's son, Stephen Toole b.c. 1780. I have been researching this family off and on since 1967. I don't have an "Eva" connected to Giles Franklin Toole's family either as a sister or a child. Nor do I have a Giles Franklin Toole, JR. Giles Franklin Toole b. September 25, 1808 (Bible Record) d. 1850-1860 Barnwell District, South Carolina, (Census Record). His parents were Benjamin Toole and Susannah/Susan {_?_}. Passed around and passed! down information claims she was a Heath, which may be possible, but I have NOT seen any proof of that. The only Eva Toole I have entered is "Eva Toole" b. March 12, 1889- December 14, 1966, buried in the Old Spring Methodist Church Cemetery near New Ellenton, South Carolina. I do not know if Toole was her maiden name or married name as I don't have her connected to anyone. Giles Franklin Toole married Elizabeth Weathersbee, Dau. of {_?_} Weathersbee and Elizabeth {_?_}. This is proved by her mother's will recorded in Barnwell District, Sept 25 1840, Book C, 238. If you have any proof that what I have put together is wrong, please let me know. For my sources I offer the very extensive Bible record of the descendents of Benjamin Toole, another son of Isaac, and various census records, cemetery records, etc. and pasSed down and passed around information from older Tooles now deceased. 3. TO: Diane Sparks, Lee and Billie Jones, and List Members, I am forwarding your message to the Richmond County, Georgia, list and back to the South Carolina ones. I am not up on my Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia, history, as to specific dates, but the canal digging mentioned in the posting below would be somewhere around the time that the Augusta Canal and other similar type work would have been going on. It might would fit if the family lived on the South Carolina side of the Savannah River and fairly close to the Augusta area. Just a suggestion. I don't recall exactly when the railroads began to come in. There might could have been some type of work train to transport workers. Just throwing out some ideas. I have several generations buried in the old Magnolia Cemetery and in West View Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia, from the late 1800's and early 1900's and I lived in Augusta in the late 1940's as a young child and visited back there fairly often in the years after that. Green-Cumbaa, Crow, Toole, Whitlock, Carpenter, etc. While I don't have any specific information, it would seem reasonable that there might have been some type of minor canals in connection with some of the early textile miles in the Horse Creek Valley with places like Graniteville, etc. My husband's Cates family was frome the Edgefield area that became Saluda and my Whitlock and Carpenters and associated families were from the Trenton area. Tooles were from Barnwell.
