Ridge Springs is in Saluda Co, SC, abt a mile north of the Aiken Co. line and 4 miles west of the Edgefield Co. line. The Church, if outside of Ridge Springs could, as John Culbertson wrote, be in Aiken Co, but I don't know that answer. What county is Mt. Pleasant Bapt Ch, Ridge Spring, SC? Thanks. Sara
Hi Sara, The town of Ridge Spring is in the southernmost corner of Saluda County. I just checked Aiken, Edgefield, and Saluda County roadmaps. Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church is actually in northern Aiken County on a county road just to the east of U.S 1. Here's its address: 164 Mount Pleasant Road, *Ridge* *Spring* SC 29129 Here's a webpage that shows you many of the churches in the Ridge Spring area. Selection number 8 represents Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. http://local.yahoo.com/SC/Ridge+Spring/Government+Community/Religion+Spirituality/Churches The following webpage has a zoomable map of the church's locale. http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?name=MT+Pleasant+Baptist+Church&desc=%28803%29+685-7183&csz=Ridge+Spring+SC+29129&qty=9&cs=10&ds=n&ed=DM1mZK160Sz5mYxiO31sZbrP5bZ6fyL5V12R4SmRNZpz3kax1eF9c5dvGr2Tlyw1tghXvZG47ysNznh_&fr= I hope that this helps. Surnames: Harden Hardin Harding Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZcB.2ACE/400 Message Board Post: I am Bill Hardin, the volunteer coordinator of the Harden/Hardin/Harding yDNA project. yDNA testing can help you connect with other researchers who share a common ancestor. yDNA is passed along the surname line from father to son. Females do not possess a y chromosome thus the test is limited to male participants. However, as long as you can find a male relative with the surname that you are researching, you could get a sample from him. Obtaining an yDNA sample is quick, easy and painless. The kit contains two cotton swabs, which you use to rub the inside of your cheek with. You put the samples in a test tube and mail them back for analysis. You don’t need to understand the science. The company that conducts the testing and the volunteer coordinator of your surname project will analyse the results and link you to other researchers who share the same yDNA (an thus share a recent common ancestor). The test is also usefull in disproving suspected pedigrees if! your sample does not match with others from that same line. Privacy is assured. You can read more about this testing at familytreedna dot com. At that site, you can check to see if a surname project has been started for a surname that you are researching. I urge all of you to investigate this new genalogy tool. If your surname happens to be Harden or Hardin or Harding, I invite you to join our group.
