    2. Lee and Billie Jones
    3. For Your information: Here is some information about an early John Powell who is said to have fought in the Rev. from Edgefield Dist. Maybe he is the father of some of the early Powells born in later 1700s for whom we have no father. The name Ridgon is familiar to me but don't find one in my files. Know I have seen the name in researching some familes. I have an early John R. Powell b. ca 1811 md Susan K. Harris. Don't know what the middle name was, but the author below indicates that the family moved away by 1806, so these later Edgefield Powells may be cousins. I don't know anything about this Powell. Contact Sam for further information. Billie Jones Match: Edgefield AND SC Source: POWELL-L@rootsweb.com From: "Sam Powell" <SamsPAD@comcast.net> Subject: John H Powell Hi to all you Powell researchers, I am looking for any information that might point me in the right direction. I am researching my GGGGGrandfather John H Powell who was born in 1760 in Duplin Co, NC and migrated to Edgefield District, SC around 1780, were he fought in the American Revolution. About 1806 his family which included his wife Esther (Rigdon?) and there sons, Hiram, John, Rigdon moved to Jones Co, GA. In July 1819 he died in Twigg Co, GA Thanks Sam Powell

Toward the Savannah River Plant. The house is on the right . Once you see the house you will see a road on the right of the house. Turn on the little road/path and you go just a little ways and the cemetery will be on the left/back of the house. You really have to be looking to see it. Hunters are using that area now. The man that owns this place rents the land out for hunters. As far as exact directions I cant give you that until I go back to SC which will be within two weeks. I have a picture of the old house if you would like it. You would get an idea. I was there last Summer and looked around the home in and out. I seen in one of the buildings that was near the home was used for milking cows. I dont know if the Fosters were the only ones that lived there or not. In the mid 1980's they rented the house out after the renters left no one has lived in it since but I am not sure. The home needs a lot of repairs on the ins! ide. The place still has old cars, silos, junk laying around and other small wooden sheds. The land back towards the cemetery is very pretty. That little road takes you on back to a smaller house I am told. I have never went back there because you need a 4-wheel drive or truck so you want get stuck. Darlene

Have we corresponded in the past and what is your connection with this man? Do you have parents for this TOOLE man. Can you cite any sources??? For some reason your information sounds familiar, but I don't have it all entered in my computer Gen. program. The only match I am coming up with is a Frank/Franklin Toole b. c. 1861-1862 with a mother Sarah Addie/Adaline Sprawls, daughter of Darling Sprawls with unknown Toole father. I picked this up from the census and some correspondence with someone on the Internet that I don't have time to look for right now. I have projected and theorized that this Frank/Franklin Toole's parents might have married about the beginning of the Civil War and that his father might have died in the Confederate Army. With the name of Franklin/Frank or if he is the same as the Giles Franklin that you have, then it is very likely that he was a descendent of Benjamin Toole. Benjamin had a s! on named Giles Franklin Toole, much only than this one of course. I have several men with variations of that name. It only remains to determine which of the Toole men died in the Civil War or shortly there after and before 1870. This I have not matched this up yet. My records show that Giles Franklin Toole married Janie Teresa Kaney. Giles Franklin Toole - b. Feb 14, 1862, no death date. Janie Teresa Kaney Toole - b. Feb 7, 1864, and d. Jan 25, 1924. Janie was the d/o James Michael Kaney and Caroline Ann Renew. I believe that Giles and Janie lived in the Aiken SC (poss in Windsor area). Melissa T Augusta, Ga

Melissa listed that she was researhing the TOOLE name among others apparently from the Aiken/Barnwell County, South Carolina, area. I would like to inquire of Melissa if she is a direct Toole descendent or if the Tooles married into her line. If she is a descendent of Isaac Toole d.c. 1814 Barnwell District, South Carolina, then we are obviously double cousins along the way. Melissa, I would like to hear from you. As I find them and match them up I am adding Isaac's Toole's descendents to my GEDCOM file. Vivian Cates, Alto, Texas http://www.inu.net/vcates

Also, I show Maybell's date of birth as Jul 17, 1908 instead of 1907. That source came from Ancestry.com's One World Tree and Aiken County Cemetery Records. I don't have any of those names you mentioned in your direct Johnson line. Maybe if you could tell me more about how you're related to Maybell. Cynthia

The same obituary mentions some daughters of Ira Bonnett - two are a Virginia and a Dessie. Often, descendants only knew their relatives by their nicknames, which is the case here. Pink and Lou (girls) are the two daughters associated with these names, but which is which? Anyone know?
