Porter born 7 March 1842 in S.C., died 7 March 1912 in Owen Co. IN. this is my GGgrandfather. His daughter Harriet (Hattie) married Charles E. Parrish. If this is the same John his father Hugh Porter born 29 Aug 1797 in Abberville, S.C. His father Rev. Alexander Porter,born 1770 in S.C.became fatherless at young age. His father Hugh Porter was killed by the Tories. The Rev.Alexander Porter moved to Ohio Preble Co.1813 There are so many John Porters I had a hard time finding mine. I hope this is some help to you.
