Thank you for the good news about the finds in Edgefield. I wish we could come but we spent almost a week recently in Abbeville and Columbia. We went to Abbeville so I could do some good research and find where my ancestors lived. To my great regret I learned the deeds had burned in 1873. I am mentioning that to say if, while you are sorting and recording the papers, I would be eternally grateful if someone would keep an eye out for the name Donaldson, especially Thomas Donaldson. I also want to learn about Joseph Rutledge. You will probably get a million requests like this, but I hope I am one of the first. Congratulations on your wonderful find! Hi all, While searching the online index of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, I came across a plat that mentioned my 3g-grandfather, Simeon Chaney. He is listed as a neighbor in a land grant. The land grant in question surrounded my his land on three sides and gave the metes and bounds. So now I have a good idea of the location of his property even though the deed was burned in the courthouse fire of 1873. Suzanne Collins Matson
