Sam and Joseph are the children of Joseph and Agness McCleskey. Old Joseph's will abstract must be incorrect. What other dates are on that handwritten sheet? Just received this and it should be very helpful: 1851, 7 April: Wm McCluskey wrote "my mother left the following children: George, William (myself), Jane, Mary, Joseph and Sarah now living; Samuel died prior to the death of his mother leaving 2 children whose names I do not know; David who died leaving 4 children (Samuel, John, Joseph, and Julia Ann); Elizabeth died leaving Lucinda, Eliza and James N. and John died leaving children but names I do not know." This day personally appeared before me Crockett McDonald, an acting Justice of the Peace for the County, aforesaid Samuel McCleskey who after being duly sworn deponeth and saith, that he is now in the seventy-third year of life, that he is the brother of Joseph McCleskey, late of Lincoln County, State of Tennessee, that they were born and raised in Abbeville District South Carolina that said Joseph McCleskey was a soldier of the revolution and before the final termination of the war (but in what year affiant cannot now recollect), he intermarried with Mary Green of the last mentioned District and State, that said Joseph McCleskey and Mary Green were married according to the then existing laws of said State in relation to marriage. That said Joseph departed this life in the County of Lincoln and said Mary McCleskey his widow who still resides in the said county and State last named, that the said Mary is the identical Mary Green with whom said Joseph intermarried during the revolutionary war, and was never divorced from her said husband during his lifetime. Sworn to and subscribed before Me this 8th day of February 1838 SAMUEL McCLESKEY
