Hi Sonia Thank you. After getting your response, I looked at the 1930 census on Ancestry.com, and it lists the following enumeration districts: District 21-Calhoun Falls Town; District 22--Magnolia Twp (North Part); District 23--Magnolia Twp (South Part) except Calhoun Falls Town. Based on the highway names listed in the 1930 census pages for Long Canes Township, it appears to run north (not south) of Abbeville, from the Anderson-Abbeville Highway to the Greenwood-Abbeville Highway (including the Abbeville-Due West Highway, State Route 20, Abbeville-Hodges Road and the Due West-Hodges Road). Smithville Township lies south of Long Canes and east of Abbeville (State Highway 7, 5 Notch Road, Verdery to Abbeville Road) and Cedar Springs Township is South east of Abbeville (Abbeville Verdery Road, Abbeville-mcCormick Road, Old Charleston Road, Cedar Springs Road). No roads or streets are listed in the two Diamond Hill Township enumeration districts, but about the only area of the county left is to the west of Abbeville towards Antreville and Lowndesville, so that's my current guess for the location of Diamond Hill Township. The location of Long Canes Township is surprising, since I think most would think of Long Canes as south of Abbeville, not north. I am curious if any of these old township names are still used in Abbeville County. Bob
