Then, there's an online 1830 census of Abbeville District: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/sc/abbeville/census/1830/ So, start with your 1840 census and draw up a list of neighbors to your family of interest. Then, go back to the 1830 census and look for that same set of neighbors. Then go backwards to 1820 and look for some of that same set of household heads. From there take a listing of wealthy neighbors (those with large numbers of slaves) or else those who were well-known (such as members of the Calhoun family) and then match them to their presence on that 1825 map (based on 1820 information). It's not perfect, but it provides you with a better chance of finding out something than hoping for a possibly non-existent post-1840 map.
