    3. Three wills listed in Index of South Carolina for CHASTAIN: 1. John CHASTAIN - Anderson County 2. John CHASTAIN - Abbeville District 3. Rane CHASTAIN - Abbeville District I have two abstracts of the wills mentioned here, and these families, or relatives, are also in deed records of Edgefield County. The name caught my eye because the CHASTAIN families are named in The Douglas Register..."refugee" records, some birth records, etc. These if early VA. Audrey

    3. I am assuming you know that the Chastains arrived VA and were given land in Manokin( many spellings), VA in 1700, as part of the original Huguenot settlement that was encouraged by VA to act as a barrier between them and the wild areas to the west. -----Original Message----- From: scabbevi-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:scabbevi-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Audrey Pool Sent: Wednesday, September 12, 2007 7:49 PM To: Abbeville South Carolina Subject: Re: [SCABBEVI] CHASTAINS... 3. I don't research CHASTAINS, but yes, see them in what is called The Vestry of "Monacantown Parish" (Vol V., p. 70). I was responding to someone who was looking for CHASTAIN in SC. Was that you?
