I wonder if the earlier maps were burned along with all the other records for Abbeville in the big fire. Since I live in Florence and won't be able to get to the Abbeville Library anytime soon, would there be anyway you'd be willing to scan a small portion or make me a photocopy of a small portion of the map? Even if it is done in pieces, that's o.k. I'll gladly pay any expenses beforehand. I'm interested in the area right around the county line between Anderson and Abbeville Counties, near the Savannah River, near Gregg Shoals Dam. This would be the area where the Diamond Springs Hotel was located, which was built by my great-great-grandfather, John W. Brown. The road was earlier known as the Bowman Ferry Road, but today is known as Rupert Scruggs Road, off of Gregg Shoals Road. It is near the Barnes Station area. The area of interest would also include the next road over, the Piney Grove Church Road, also off of Gregg Shoals Road. Gregg Shoals Road turns off of Barnes Station Road between Union Baptist Church and Lowndesville. If you have any questions regarding the ! area, please let me know.
