Hi Folks, The last link given below can be quite useful. There are two items that should be of great interest to anyone trying to understand early 19th century Abbeville District settlement. First, there is a collection GIF image files for the 1820 census of Abbeville District. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/sc/abbeville/census/1820/ Second, there is an online image of the 1825 Robert Mills Landowner's Map of Abbeville District. This does display all landowners. Instead, it displays principal and important landowners and sites such as mills, meeting houses, etc. as were found during a survey of the district in 1820. Both the census and the survey were conducted in the same year! This map image can be zoomed into and scrolled across in search of place names and those places where important personages resided. http://www.davidrumsey.com/maps860022-23855.html If you can find your ancestors in that listing of the 1820 census alongside their neighbors, then you can compare those neighbors against that map's display of landowners.
