Thanks everyone who responded for the tips and insights into the immigration processes. I will pursue the leads given. Is anyone familiar with the book "PETITIONS FOR LAND FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA COUNCIL JOURNALS -VOLUME V;1757-1765." Brent H.Holcombe 1998? Does anyone have it that would do lookups? I understand it is indexed. I have searched the LDS online library and they don't appear to have it. The person who does lookups for this book at Rootsweb "Books we Own" is currently not available. Dennis Smith was kind enough to check the Greenwood Library for me, but no luck. It is available to purchase for $40.00 but I am reluctant to do so without knowing the content. I think I have picked all the low hanging fruit. I have yet to contact SC Dept. of Archives & History or the list "SCROOTS" as suggested. Thanks, it's fun Charles Webb ____________________________________________________________________________________ Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check. Try the Yahoo! Brent Holcomb has a series of books of this type which covers all the SC Council Journal Records that existed at the time he did the work. SC Archives has copies of these books which I believe number five or six volumes. ----- Original Message ----- From: Charles Webb To: Abbeville ; Longcane Sent: Monday, June 18, 2007 8:13 PM Subject: Re: [SCABBEVI] South Carolina Council Journals Thanks everyone who responded for the tips and insights into the immigration processes. I don't own this personally, Charles; but it's available at my public library. What do you need looked up? OR go to: www.worldcat.org This site will list libraries near you that own the book and will also give you the mileage from your location to each library.
