The place is in a good state of improvement, having on it a good dwelling house, Gin House and Thrashing House and Thrasher, a new Mill House and Mill and all necessary out buildings; three hundred acres of freshly cleared land. Will be sold at the same time and place, about five thousand bushels of corn, a quantity of fodder, about four hundred bushels of wheat, about one thousand bushels of oats, about fifty bushels of Rye; Horses and Mules, Cattle, Sheep, Hogs, Household and Kitchen Furniture, Plantation Tools and many other articles. Aug. 17, 1846 Wheras, information has been received at this Department, that ARTHUR, the slave of Isaac WEATHERLY of Cheraw District, who has absconded from this state, and is said to be in North Carolina, has recently been engaged in decoying and stealing slaves, instigated by white men who are now in the custody of the law, and in order that the said ARTHUR may be brought to trial, I do hereby offer a reward of One Hundred Dollars for his apprehension and delivery into any Jail in this State. ARTHUR is about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 30 years of age and has a keen eye, and rather a brown look. This 13th day of Aug. 1846, Wm. Aiken, Governor ------- PROCLAMATION OF GOVERNOR Executive Office, Charleston, S.C. Aug. 17, 1846 Whereas, information has been received at this Department, that TOBY, a slave of Mrs. MURREE, was shot and killed by one John JONES on Sunday the 9th of Aug. and that the said John JONES has fled from the state, supposed to have gone to Savannah in Georgia. So that justice may be had, I do hereby offer a reward of One Hundred Dollars for the apprehension and delivery of the said fugitive from justice, into any jail in the state. He is about 50 years of age, very stout, 5 feet 6 or 8 inches high, red faced, and gray hair. This 17th day of Aug. 1846. Wm. No particular marks upon him recollected. He is thick set and when lost was unshod; is about 17 or 18 years old. Any information of him will be thankfully received.
