Hello List Wanted to post Benjamin West, Sr., 1759, MD, served Rev War, NC troops, married 1788, lived in Abberville District, SC for thirty-five years, and died 1842, Hall Co., GA. If anyone connects or can add to this information, I would appreciate it. I have his NARA file, census records, and some death certificates for verification of dates and family members. He is located on the 96th District, Abberville, SC 1790 census, along with a James West in the same area. Wondering if this could be his father, since Benjamin's son was named James. Hoping to share with others searching this line and hopefully find his parents. North Carolina Rev War. Enlisted 1777, Lincoln Co., NC, served as substitute for father for two months as private in Captain McDowell’s Company, Colonel Brevard’s North Carolina Regiment. Re-enlisted 1780, served five months in Captain McDowell’s Company, North Carolina Troops, marched to King’s Mountain and “reached the battle ground about half an hour after the engagement was over.” Allowed pension, claim no.
