Thank you for the good news about the finds in Edgefield. I wish we could come but we spent almost a week recently in Abbeville and Columbia. We went to Abbeville so I could do some good research and find where my ancestors lived. To my great regret I learned the deeds had burned in 1873. I am mentioning that to say if, while you are sorting and recording the papers, I would be eternally grateful if someone would keep an eye out for the name Donaldson, especially Thomas Donaldson. I also want to learn about Joseph Rutledge. You will probably get a million requests like this, but I hope I am one of the first. Congratulations on your wonderful find! I join Toldi Ponin of Dallas, TX in expressing a desire to know what records have been found. I Iive in Houston, TX and may never make a trip to Edgefield so would very much like to see at the very least an index (better yet abstracts) of these records. I am sure these were a very exciting discovery. Gwen Boucher
Dear Dr. McNeill: This message is very interesting to many of us in far away places. Is there an bibliography or outline of this important material. My families were in SC from 1760's onward. Newberry, Abbeville and importantly Edgefield. My friend would also like to know about this new find. His family were in Newberry. Thank you for this notification. Could this be the Old Stone Church, in Pickens County, on Highway 76 between Pendleton and Clemson? Andrew Pickens and others are buried there.
I have forwarded the below message because I don't know where this Old Church is. Can some of you who do answer Helen's question? I also believe that William Truitt/Truett is my husband's 3 greats grandfather. He was on the 1850 Owsley County census with Elizabeth and several children. There were some Redden Truitts in the county as well. Do you know who William and Redden's father and mother is? Paula

In "Abstracts of Old Ninety-Six and Abbeville District Wills and Bonds" (found in public library in Tampa FL) there was reference to John, Alexander and John Wilson Sr. as guardians for minor children of Archibald Andrews in 1832. Children were named Margaret, Jane, Alexander and Benjamin Andrews, I'm guessing the guardians were the brothers and father of the Andrews minors. Let me know if this links up with your research. I'd like to know more about the Wilsons.

Your connection, i.e. Elizabeth Redding, married to Harley Jones, was my only connection. I do know that the Redding Family was part of the Abbeville, South Carolina, region. I do understand that Louis Redding's father's name was Samuel. I do not know anything beyond that........hope that I can find more. Janis

Unfortunately, his book focuses mainly on his family, the Browns and the Halls. I checked the index of his book and did not find any listings for Reddings. I am sorry I cannot be of help to you. I was trying to think of some links that might help you, but you've probably already tried them all out: www.sciway.net has a link under "Genealogy" by county; http://www.censusrecords.net/publicrecords/south_carolina_public_records.htm I had this link: http://www.scgenealogy.com/ but it's not working tonight; I don't know if it's dead or not; http://www.schistory.org/resources.html and of course, http://www.cyndislist.com/ I hope you can find what you're looking for at one of these. Good luck to you! Joanne B. Revell
