I'm not (to the best of my knowledge, although can never tell on some of those female lines I haven't finished tracing) related to the Swancey/Swanzy family. The location of Michael Blain's property (according to George Watt's pension file is): …About the last December of the same year [1782] or first of January in the year [1783] following…applicant under command of said Captain Maxwell marched by order of said General Pickens to Michael Blains the place of rendezvous about a mile and a half from Swanzey’s ferry on Saluda River where they remained under said captain guarding the frontiers of South Carolina against the Indians and Tories until about the tenth of March 1783 when the applicant was discharged at said Michael Blain’s by said Captain Maxwell. Mill's atlas does include Swancey's ferry on both the Abbeville and the Laurens county maps. It can also be found on one of the maps in Margaret Watson's Greenwood County Sketchs. -vicki

We have even found our grandfather's deeds under Brazeal. Some of my family are still in Blount County. When we have our Family Reunion in the spring, we are going to compare information. If you run across a David Harold with a brother named Zuma and sisters named Martha & Jane, my cousin is looking for this branch. (this could be in the Jefferson Co records because David Harold went to school in Bessemer). I'm not sure when Blount County was divided and part of it became Jefferson Co. But we have him in the 1790 Census for Abbeville living right next door to a William Stone and a "Rowley" Stone. I'd love to see anything you have on Elizabeth and the Stones. Also, is it through family tradition that you have that she was related to S. D. Miller? That is how it is with us--several seperate branches have that William was the son of Charles Miller of the Waxhaw district (modern Lancaster and York SC), S. D. Miller's grandfather, but I would love to be able to get some firm documentation. By the way, I can send you a copy of William's will that list Elizabeth Stone and all her siblings if you like. 1. [Abbeville] researching the Abbeville area
    2. M. Benson
    3. I have just started my research and would appreciate any suggestions as to where I might be able to find records. I am researching Hugh McCullough and Mary Esther Boggs McCullough, who left Abbeville in 1801 and went to Mo. I have access to census records and have found them there, and have looked at the records on the SC archives website. I am interested in finding the parents of Hugh McCullough and also would like to know where the parents of Mary Boggs, who were Robert and Elizabeth Boggs, were originally from. I see to be having a hard time getting a handle on just where to find SC records, as the normal routes for research don't seem to be helping. I have been able to get some records through The local FHC, but many of them are housed in Salt Lake City and they won't send some of the SC microfilmed records out to the FHC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
