I am trying to locate the marriage record of William Snellgrove b.1775-1783 in South Carolina and his wife Mary (maiden name unknown) I know he was living in Newberry area in 1823 when he purchased land in Georgia. The known children of this marriage were born in South Carolina after 1800 so I believe that most likely the marriage took place in the late 1790's. I have looked at the marriage records that are on line and the ones at the library. I am hoping someone on this list has some marriage records that I have not seen and can find the marriage. I also know that William Snellgrove was a merchant, and from other land records it looks like he traveled a lot so he may have met Mary on his travels or back in the area of Newberry. I had the same problem finding his granddaughter's marriage in Houston co Ga but due to the kind efforts of people on that list who had the records of all the marriages in the county I now have that record, and I am hoping for a similar event for William and Mary Snellgrove.
