I have a Sophia HOLCOMB, says she was born 15 Apr 1788 "within the sounds of the Battle of Cowpens". I believe her parents to be Joel and Mary Ann (MARCHBANKS) HOLCOMB. Any help on these two families would be appreciated? Also, I have a Jacob BUZBEE (any spelling) born ca 1760 in perhaps the Newberry District. It is believed he marries a Jane LANGFORD, not proven. Their daughter, Jane (called Giney) marries a Claiborn MAY, prior to 1820, possibly in the Newberry area, and they move to St. Clair Co. ALA. Need help on Buzbee and May. Anyone researching the BETTIS family in the area? I have a James Bettis born circa 1743, was definately in Spartanburg in 1794 when son Phillip was born. The family were silversmiths and gunsmiths.
