Hi Joyce! I, too, am researching the Chappell's in the Old 96 District. I am stuck on James/John Chappell born about 1801 in SC. I have no parents for him, etc. I believe they may have come to the upstate from Newberry. I have much info on his descendants as well as pics, death certs, etc. Another researcher and I are desperately trying to find parents and siblings. He married an Abigail Boren/Bowen abt. 1833 and they were living in Pickens Co. Another Chappell, Delilah, married a James Boren. These families seem to be intertwined, so I am thinking that siblings married siblings, as was the case alot of the times back then. Which Chappell line are you researching? Patricia A.
