    2. Laney Armathine LINDSAY (1825 SC - 1880 SC) and Dr. John Irwin BONNER (1822 AL - 1881 SC) married 25 September 1845 in Due West, SC. Dr. Bonner was president of Due West Female College and published the "Associate Reformed Presbyterian." Laney Armathine Lindsay was the daughter of James LINDSAY (1802-1854) and Polly Ann HAWTHORNE. James Lindsay was the son of John LINDSAY and Elizabeth BROWNLEE, first settlers of Due West, SC. James Lindsay was the first postmaster of Due West and operated the first store there in partnership with R. C. Sharp. He was actively associated with Erskine College and served as treasurer 1851-1854. He was a builder and built the ARP Church in Due West which was completed in 1854 and its bell tolled first for him soon after he completed the building.
