Dear Mary, I have been told that COCHRAN is another spelling for the surname COCKERHAM. Do you know if this is true? If true, do you have any connection to William Winn COCKERHAM? I am descended from William Winn COCKERHAM of NC and SC. The family came down through GA to Pickens Co., AL and was in the Noxubee Co., MS area by about 1830. My 4g-grandmother and William's second wife, Nancy Estes COCKERHAM, d. 14 Mar 1842 and is buried in Choctaw Co., MS. Their daughter, Mary COCKERHAM, was married to the Rev. Silas DOBBS.
